THE POLISH CHICKEN

The Polish chicken is one of the most eye-catching birds in the barnyard. The first thing you notice is the big, fluffy crest of feathers on its head—it almost looks like a feathery crown or a fun little hat. Their body feathers are smooth and can come in blue, white, black, or speckled patterns, but it’s always the crest that steals the show.

They have a small comb and red wattles that peek out from under their crest. Their legs are clean and strong, and they move with a calm, curious manner. These birds are gentle, friendly, and generally easy to handle, though their crest can sometimes block their vision, making them a bit cautious.

Polish chickens aren’t the most prolific layers, but the eggs they do lay are white and reliable. Mostly, people keep them for their striking looks and fun personalities—they’re a showstopper in any flock and bring a lot of charm to the farm.
